Tash Rigby is fourth WA Legacy Ambassador
Perth Glory A-League captain Tash Rigby is our fourth WA female football Legacy Ambassador.
Tash, who originally hails from Margaret River, came through the Football West system including Country Week and the National Youth Championships in Coffs Harbour.
"That was my first taster of what it was to be a professional athlete and that elite pathway," she said.
"At a grassroots level I would like to see more opportunities for girls to play with girls, and a decrease in the number of girls dropping out at the teenage years.
"We can help by implementing and ensuring that we have female-friendly facilities ... and empowering females to step into the positions of leadership, as coaches, on boards, as presidents, so that we feel represented at that level."
Tash joins Football West director and resource geologist Ivy Chen, coach and analyst Faye Chambers, and international high-performance coach, keynote speaker and best-selling author Shona Rowan as WA Legacy Ambassadors.
The WA Legacy Ambassadors will raise awareness of the initiatives set out in the Football West Legacy Plan.
The Legacy Plan will focus on providing opportunities and enduring outcomes through the power of football.
These include:
PARTICIPATION – growing female participation through expanded community programs to achieve the aim of gender parity by 2027
COMMUNITY FACILITIES – building football through improved grassroots infrastructure to ensure equitable female facilities to meet surging demand
LEADERSHIP & DEVELOPMENT – leading through capacity building in women’s leadership workshops, community activations and increased female representation in key roles
ASIAN ENGAGEMENT – investing in the female game by developing strong international relationships and delivering cultural and educational experiences with government and commercial partners
