International high-performance coach Shona Rowan is Legacy Ambassador

International high-performance coach, keynote speaker and best-selling author Shona Rowan is Football West's newest Legacy Ambassador.
Shona, who is also a former world-ranked competitive Ballroom and Latin American 10-Dancer, will help advocate for female football in the lead-up to and beyond the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup, which takes place in Australia and New Zealand later this year.
"We know from the research that gender balance is good for performance, it's good for business, it's good for culture, it's good for the community ... it benefits everyone," she said.
"I'm so excited to be an ambassador for the FIFA Women's World Cup. Sport is such a powerful instrument to create change and such a huge part of the Australia culture."
Shona joins Ivy Chen and Faye Chambers as our Legacy Ambassadors. The WA Legacy Ambassadors will raise awareness of the initiatives set out in the Football West Legacy Plan.
The Legacy Plan will focus on providing opportunities and enduring outcomes through the power of football.
These include:
PARTICIPATION – growing female participation through expanded community programs to achieve the aim of gender parity by 2027
COMMUNITY FACILITIES – building football through improved grassroots infrastructure to ensure equitable female facilities to meet surging demand
LEADERSHIP & DEVELOPMENT – leading through capacity building in women’s leadership workshops, community activations and increased female representation in key roles
ASIAN ENGAGEMENT – investing in the female game by developing strong international relationships and delivering cultural and educational experiences with government and commercial partners
