Faye Chambers is Football West's latest WA Legacy Ambassador
Football West is pleased to announce top coach and analyst Faye Chambers as our latest female football Legacy Ambassador.
Faye, who is also a teacher at Darling Range Sports College, is the second person named as a Legacy Ambassador. She follows Football West director and resource geologist Ivy Chen.
"It's an amazing privilege to be a WA Legacy Ambassador heading into the Women's World Cup ... being able to support young female coaches coming through and existing female coaches in their journey," said Faye, who last year participated in the FIFA-Football Australia Coach Educators’ Development Pathway Program.
“With the Women’s World Cup, you’ve got some of the most highly credentialled female coaches coming tours shores, which is just fantastic role-modelling.”
Faye, who coached for eight years in the Football West Hyundai NTC Program for Girls, has also worked as an analyst with the Junior Matildas. She was appointed head coach of Fremantle City's NPLWA - Women's side late last year.
"The best part of being a coach is to develop young players, to just be a small part of their journey is definitely a highlight," she said.
The WA Legacy Ambassadors will raise awareness of the initiatives set out in the Football West Legacy Plan.
The Legacy Plan will focus on providing opportunities and enduring outcomes through the power of football.
These include:
PARTICIPATION – growing female participation through expanded community programs to achieve the aim of gender parity by 2027
COMMUNITY FACILITIES – building football through improved grassroots infrastructure to ensure equitable female facilities to meet surging demand
LEADERSHIP & DEVELOPMENT – leading through capacity building in women’s leadership workshops, community activations and increased female representation in key roles
ASIAN ENGAGEMENT – investing in the female game by developing strong international relationships and delivering cultural and educational experiences with government and commercial partners
