Belt Up cup finals day delivers at State Football Centre

There were plenty of celebrations at the State Football Centre on Sunday with the conclusion of the Belt Up cup finals weekend.

The first game was the Belt Up Men's Metropolitan Cup final, with Kalgoorlie College defeating Perth SC 2-0 thanks to two goals in the final seven minutes. First Luca Baldassarra neatly tucked the ball away at the back post, then Jace Reilly ran through unopposed to wrap it up.

Next came the Hyundai Women's League Cup final between Sorrento FC and Fremantle City. Sorrento struck first through Jayde Keogh, with Fremantle equalising a minute before the break via Zoe Andrijich's free-kick.

An unfortunate own goal from Isabel Judd put Freo ahead 19 minutes from the end and soon after Jessica Mitchell extended the advantage. Keogh got her second in stoppage time but Fremantle saw the game out to win 3-2.

The third final was the Belt Up Men's Amateur Reserves Cup as Emerald FC beat Kingsley Westside 2-1. Emerald made an incredible start with Andrew Patton smashing one home from outside the area after only 42 seconds.

Their second goal came on 76 minutes and was a touch of class from Stephen Pollock, who lifted the ball over the keeper before tapping it into the empty net. And although Ozren Kotur headed one back for Kingsley 10 minutes from time, they were unable to take the game to penalties.

Finally, the Belt Up Men's Amateur Cup went to Wembley Downs, who defeated Perth AFC 3-1.

Josh Chalmers started and finished the move for Wembley's opening goal on 22 minutes, and not long after Jack Mellor made it two when he found the top corner from just inside the box. Francisco Jorquera cashed in on some poor defending to make it 2-1 with half-an-hour to play, but it was Wmebley who prevailed thanks to substitute Kevin Punselie's clincher on 75 minutes.
