UWA Nedlands ended their run of near misses to lift the Hyundai Women’s League Night Series at E&D Litis Stadium.

Lawrence Lewis’ side were runners-up in the 2021 and 2022 editions of the pre-season final, and came second to South West Phoenix in both Division One and the Top Four Cup final last season.

On Sunday they finally got their hands on some silverware with a deserved 2-0 win over Hyundai NTC U21s.

Lawrence Lewis' team came out with a point to prove and went ahead midway through the first half. After being denied by Emme Ingrey earlier in the half, Serena Lin fired a low strike with her next opportunity which was too hot for the goalkeeper to keep out.

Minutes later UWA Nedlands gave themselves the comfort of a two-goal cushion, as space opened up for Player of the Match Erin Armstrong to score with a stunning strike from long range.

Ashley Harling could have made it three early in the second half, but she was denied by Jess Skinner.

NTC came hard as the second half wore on with Xuri Dalton’s drive saved spectacularly by Anna Watkins with the best of their efforts. But they could not pull one back and as a result UWA lifted silverware long in the waiting.
