Successful day three for WA at National Futsal Championships

The Gold Fields WA State Girls U13s have been rewarded for two excellent displays on Sunday with a place in the quarter-finals at the 2024 National Futsal Championships.

They defeated NSW Country 6-3 with a hat-trick from Zoe Dumont, two from Savanna Glavovic and one for Ellie Waters.

And they continued to fire against South Australia Blue as Glavovic (2), Tayla Woolfenden (2), Lilly-Mae McGrath (2) and Dumont saw them to a 7-1 triumph.

The victories set up a last-eight clash with NSW Lightning on Monday, with a semi-final later in the day should they win.

The WA Girls U15s have struggled to make an impact on the Gold Coast but there was something to cheer on Sunday with Tiahnee Smith claiming a national championships goal in the loss to Capital Football.

The Boys U14s are flying and finished the group stage with a 100% record from their three fixtures. Abdulrahman Barham, Ahmet Atak, Milos Golub, Blake Levin and Bastian Dominguez Rubina all scored in a 5-1 victory against Victoria. They now take on South Australia in the last eight.

Lovell was again among the goals in the next game as he and Jared Lawther fired WA into a 2-0 lead against Queensland, only or the hosts to hit back and win 3-2. A positive result against bottom o the ladder NSW Country will see them advance to the semis.

A double from Adam Ikhlef, one from Adam Radi and an own goal saw the U12s down South Australia 4-1. They face NSW Country in the last eight.

The Boys U19s got over the line to book their place in the last four of the Youth Men competition.

After a 4-1 loss to NSW Thunder in which Wim Hairihiru netted the opener, they knew nothing but three points against Victoria would do if they were to progress.

And they got the job done, with Zephyr McPherson (2) and Roberto Salas on target in a 3-2 win to set up a rematch with group winners Thunder.

Finally in the Open Men’s competition it’s an all-WA quarter-final on Monday as Rockingham Cumbre face Fremantle.

Freo finished second in Pool A on goal difference following Sunday’s 7-2 win over Queensland, while Cumbre ended in third in Pool B after a 5-4 loss to Victoria Fitzroy.
