Finals spots on offer at 2024 National Futsal Championships

The Gold Fields WA State Boys U14s are top of their pool at the National Futsal Championships following a second win in the tournament.

After their opening-day defeat of NSW, they brushed aside Capital Football 8-3 to give themselves a great chance of making the knockout stage.

Milos Golub was the stand-out player with a hat-trick, with Blake Levin, David Klimoski, Ahmet Atak and Chong Low also scoring.

The U14s have six points from two matches, and a point against Victoria on Sunday will be enough to book a spot in the semi-finals.

The WA Boys U13s are also on track for the last eight after they picked up their second victory from three games with an 8-2 thumping of Capital Football.

Nathan Costarella scored three and Dylan Winardi two, while Anthony Scaffidi, Ricky Hirobe and Tom Ceic also chipped in. The U13s can move to within a point of the semis with a win over South Australia on Sunday.

The Gold Fields Boys U12s had their first win on Saturday

There was a four-goal performance for WA in the Boys U12s, as Julian Panetta guided them to a 5-3 win over Tasmania. Dylan Hookway got the other. And while their semi-final hopes were beaten later in the day by NSW Thunder, Adam Ikhlef was able to help himself to two goals.

The Boys U15s made a flying start against Capital Football after Sam Lovell and Marcus Menara fired them into a 2-0 lead, only for Capital to hit back and win 4-2.

And there was further frustration for the Boys U19s, who for the second time in as many days allowed a winning position to slip from their grasp in the Youth Men's competition.

On Friday they were forced to settle for a point after leading Queensland 3-0 at half-time. On Saturday they were 2-0 and 3-1 ahead against Capital, only to concede two goals in the final minute in a 3-3 draw. Lutfil Muhammad, Zephyr McPherson and Nishan Alagoda scored WA’s goals.

This game followed a 3-1 loss to NSW Lightning, with Roberto Salas on target. The WA U19s must now win one of the final two games, against NSW Thunder and Victoria, if they are to have a chance of making the last four.

The Gold Fields WA State Girls U13s gave NSW Thunder a big scare on Saturday

The WA Girls U13s put up a great fight against pool leaders NSW Thunder. At one stage they were 4-2 in front before Thunder came home strongly to win 6-4. WA’s goals came from Grace Truong, Lily Sunderland, Savanna Glavovic and an own goal.

The U13s have two games on Sunday, against NSW Country and South Australia Blue, and two wins could be enough to put them in the last eight.

Meanwhile, the WA Girls U15s are awaiting their first point after finding NSW Country and NSW Thunder too strong on Saturday.

There was more frustration for the Men's U19s

In the Open Men’s competition, Rockingham Cumbre won 4-2 against Capital while Fremantle drew 2-2 with NSW Lightning.

The first lot of matches on Sunday get under way at 7.30am (5.30am WST), with eight matches to be live-streamed including Fremantle v Queensland (9.25am WST, Open Men's), South Australia v WA Boys U12s (11am WST) and WA Girls U15s v Capital (2pm WST).
