The first course of the year will take place at Gibbney Reserve, Maylands, on Saturday 3 February 2024 (9am-12pm).

Referee match fees

Football West is delighted to confirm a 5% rise in match fees for referees in 2024. This is the second year in succession that match officials have seen a 5% rise in their match fees. This puts referees in the Perth metro area among the highest remitted among Member Federations in Australia.

Three-Strike Policy

Following a successful trial with Football Queensland, the Three-Strike Policy was adopted by Football West for the 2023 season. This will remain in place for 2024. The policy is designed to hold clubs to account for the behaviour of their players, coaches, other representatives and spectators towards match officials at all levels. Following the success of the policy last year, an amended version will be released to the football community soon.

Referee registration fees

Football West is pleased to announce that registration fees have been set to a flat rate for the coming season and in almost every case, significantly reduced in cost. For example, a referee who officiates in the NPL/State League competitions would have paid a registration fee of $400 for the 2023 season. The cost is now only $200. The important role of our referee coaches/assessors has been further recognised with the registration fee removed for any qualified assessor to register for the 2024 season.
