Olympic win it late again

Raeez Pandor scored a late winner as Olympic Kingsway defeated Quinns 2-1 at Kingsway Reserve and preserved their 100% start to the 2022 Men’s State League Division One season.

David Tough's team struck near the end to win their Round One home game against Mandurah City and there was late drama again on Saturday when substitute Pandor followed in Nick Koefler's long-range effort to tap in the game's decisive goal.

Olympic took the lead a minute before the interval when Tommy Amphlett's strike went through the grasp of Patrick Stephenson, while Kieron Craig lost his marker to head Quinns level in the second half.

Fremantle City remain in second place and two points off the pace after Hamza Hina's second-half brace helped give them a 3-1 win against Subiaco.

Todd Howarth's looping header from a Matt Sparrow corner put City in front at the break, but Elliot Ireland's penalty made it 1-1 going into the final half-hour.

Subiaco were level for just six minutes as Hina scored in stunning fashion with the outside of the boot.

Ethan Johnson's red card on 73 minutes further dented Subiaco hopes and Cameron Lord's team eventually made the game safe late on when Hina’s solo effort made it 3-1.

Behind them, Western Knights and Murdoch University Melville have both won their first two league matches and sit a point behind Fremantle having played a game fewer.

Knights scored three second half goals to defeat Forrestfield United 3-0 at Nash Field.

Paul Lloyd was on hand to finish Dean Hurley's ball across the six-yard box on 53 minutes before Noah Shamaki stylishly lobbed Hurley's pass into the net on the hour.

Hurley added to his two assists with a strike from the penalty spot to make it three goals in 16 minutes for Knights as they went third on goal difference.

MUM FC didn't have it as easy at the Besteam Stadium as they were made to work hard for a 1-0 home win over UWA Nedlands.

Daniel Tait's 93rd minute header from a set piece decided matters as the Night Series winners continued their good start to 2022.

Joondalup United had their first win of the season in spectacular fashion as they came from two goals down to defeat Dianella White Eagles 3-2 in a game which featured three red cards.

Loic Anga Lopandza put Dianella in front on 13 minutes but the home side were reduced to 10 men on 53 minutes when Kristian Despotovski was shown a second yellow card.

It did not deter them initially as Nik Talimdzioski surged between two defenders and planted a strike past Joe Smith to make it 2-0. But three goals in eight minutes turned the game on its head.

James Oldroyd came off the bench to turn home a cross from close range minutes before Anthony Taylor tucked in a cross from Adam Flint.

The comeback was complete when James Harmer was credited with his first goal since returning to the club for a second spell.

Sasa Njegic was shown red late on, as was Harmer after being shown a second yellow card, before Luke Salmon's free-kick almost rescued a late draw for Dianella who have one point from three matches.

Finally, Rockingham City scored a last-minute equaliser as they drew 2-2 against Mandurah City at Lark Hill.

Jack Murray drove in a crisp opener from 18 yards, but the visitors levelled quickly through Joe O'Brien's terrific header.

O'Brien completed a brace with a simpler header from close range on 63 minutes and they held that lead until near the end, until Jordan Rhodes superbly found the corner on the volley as both teams picked up their first points of the season.

In Division Two, Carramar Shamrock Rovers lead the way after three rounds despite a scare on Saturday as they defeated Balga 4-2.

Ger Fitzgerald and Daniel Pearce put Rovers two up, but the hosts hit back with goals from Bleron Mamudi and Craig Hollingsworth making it all square early in the second half.

Fitzgerald got his second seven minutes after the equaliser, then Jack Bardsley sealed the three points in stoppage time.

Kingsley Westside sit second and two points off the pace after a 4-2 win at Joondalup City.

Ewen Fawcett opened the scoring for City, but Connor Lynch, Jonathan Hume and Joe Allsopp made it 3-1 to the visitors just past the half-hour mark.

Fawcett pulled one back on 38 minutes but Adam O'Neill's goal two minutes after the restart would ultimately provide the cushion for his team to go on and win.

Nathan Smith's hat-trick earned Curtin University a 3-3 draw with Wanneroo City.

Nathan Scully opened the scoring for Roos, but two in four minutes for Smith gave the home side a lead at the break.

However, Keylun Pollard and then Scully's fifth in three games put Wanneroo in with a chance of winning their first game this season, only for Smith's late intervention to deny them as Curtin moved into third place.

Sebastian Munoz's goal gave Ashfield a 1-0 win at home to Morley Windmills.
