The Hyundai TSP Metro and Regional Boys U14s reached the semi-finals at the 2022 Malaysia Borneo Football Cup

A round-up of the Hyundai TSP Metro and Regional Boys U14s’ progress in the 2022 Malaysia Borneo Football Cup, where they made it to the semi-finals.

This is the first time since the start of the pandemic that Football West has been able to send a team overseas.

In their first game on Sunday they beat a side from Philippines 2-1, with Noah McEntee scoring both.

In game two against a strong Malaysian team, the WA side fell behind 3-0 before Liam Amri and McEntee pulled it back to 3-2. Unfortunately they were unable to find an equaliser.

Samuel Chansongo scores a last-gasp equaliser for WA

With a semi-final place at stake, the West Aussies knew they needed something against Malaysian side TABS today. And with the last kick of the game, central defender Samuel Chansongo scored to give WA a 1-1 draw.

That set up a semi-final against the strong St George City side and despite a spirited showing, WA went down 2-0. Which means they will play in the third-place play-off tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the 15s had their first friendly today and they drew 1-1.
