Good day for WA U15s at National Youth Championships for Boys
Both of the Gold Fields WA State U15s sides lead their respective groups after going unbeaten on the second day of the National Youth Championships for Boys in Coffs Harbour.
Meanwhile there was a win and a loss for U14s Black, who sit second in their group a point off top, but two defeats for U14s Yellow.
WA U15s Black lead group B with a 100% record of three wins from three. Today they defeated NSW Blue 4-1 with goals from Louis Sollitt, Santiago Flores (2) and an own goal. Later in the day, Perth Glory pair Sollitt and Flores were on target again, as well as club teammates James Overy and Malise Mpunga, as they put four past Capital Football without reply.
In group C, a goal from Perth SC’s Matt Sohun gave WA U15s Yellow a 1-1 draw against NSW Metro White. The West Australian side then overcame Queensland Silver by the only goal scored by Perth RedStar’s Theo Leeming.
WA U14s Black began Day Two with a 2-0 win over NSW Metro Blue, Lucas Mura and Cristiano Farfan (both Perth Glory) netting. Then in the final group B game of the day they went down 3-2 to Capital Football, despite a double from Glory’s Max Naylor.
It wasn’t the best day for U14s Yellow, who were beaten in their two matches in group C. NSW Metro White proved too strong in the opener, winning 4-0. In the second match, Hudson Burn of Joondalup United scored for WA in a 3-1 loss to Queensland Silver.
