Football West is delighted to welcome Annette Tilbrook onto its Board.

Annette comes with a strong commerce and strategy background. In particular, she will be a huge asset in regard to Football West’s Asian Engagement Strategy having lived and worked in the Asian region from 1995 to 2020.

Now back in Perth with her husband and grown-up family, Annette, who is a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD), is keen to help Football West explore new markets and build on established ones.

“Southeast Asia is a key area of interest for Football West and with my background and areas of speciality, I am excited by the opportunity to be a part of Football West’s deeper engagement in the Asian region,” she said.

“I am excited to be able to utilise my varied past experiences working with AustCham Singapore and the Australia-ASEAN Chamber of Commerce, in particular in strengthening stake holder engagement across the region; and with the Australia New Zealand Association (ANZA) in the development of multi-use sporting facilities in Singapore. These experiences will allow me to support the Football West Asian Engagement strategy, including the strategy of the Football Futures Foundation and the building of the State Football Centre.”

Annette was the founding Honorary Secretary, Executive Director and Board member of the Australia-ASEAN Chamber of Commerce (AustCham ASEAN) from 2017 to 2020, responsible for guiding the newly formed organisation in its goal to becoming the key platform for Australian business advocacy and engagement within the ASEAN region. She also held the position of Advisor to the Board.

Prior to this she was the Executive Director of AustCham, Singapore for nine years. In that time, she oversaw all activities of the Chamber, growing its business fourfold. She led the transition of the Chamber from a predominantly social organisation to one of the leading foreign business chambers in Singapore and the leading Australian business chamber in Asia.

Concurrent to her role as Executive Director, she was the Founding Secretary of Australian Business Asia (2010-2012) a grouping of 16 Australian chambers and business councils, whose mission is to provide a collective voice for Australian business throughout the Asia region.

Annette has also been deeply involved with the Australian New Zealand Association (ANZA) holding a number of office appointments as President/Vice President and committee member from 2000 to 2008.

During this time Annette’s involvement was centred on supporting the development of ANZA’s Sports City, a very successful multi-faceted sports ground developed by the association to support football, AFL, touch rugby and cricket, predominantly for the ANZA community.

“Reflecting on my work with the many stakeholders within the ANZA community and being part of the achievement of an outcome that was in everybody’s best interest; I see how important the State Football Centre project is to the West Australian football community.”

Football West Chairman Sherif Andrawes said: “It is a pleasure to welcome Annette as our newest director. We know she will be a great contributor across the board, but in particular when it comes to Asian relations, both cultural and sport.

“Annette will find this is an exciting time to come into football in WA, with the State Football Centre and Women’s World Cup just around the corner.”

Mr Andrawes also paid tribute to Andrea Hoskins, whom Annette is replacing on the Board.

“Andrea has made an invaluable contribution to Football West over the past four-and-a-half years as the organisation has made great strides and we all wish her the best of luck in the future.”
