Football West and Healthway launch Kick Off the Conversation program

Football West and Healthway today launch the Kick Off the Conversation program.

Kick Off the Conversation focuses on raising awareness of improved mental health practices within clubs. This is done by developing tailored resources and taking part in workshops run by local mental health providers.

It also educates the football community about Healthway’s Think Mental Health campaign.

As part of the program, participating clubs will be eligible to win a share of $15,000 in cash prizes.

Football West and Healthway renewed their partnership for a third year in 2023, and will continue to create club environments that promote positive mental health and wellbeing.

Think Mental Health

By participating in the Kick Off the Conversation program, clubs will gain a better understanding of the role they play in supporting and educating their members on mental health and wellbeing.

They will also be better equipped to nurture the mental health and wellbeing of their members, identify and support those who may be struggling and better manage situations where more in-depth support is required.

The program emphasises the importance of creating a club culture that is inclusive, supportive, and nurturing.

Participating clubs will have the opportunity to develop a positive reputation within the sport and be recognised for their commitment to good sportsmanship. There is also an exciting incentive for clubs to get involved as they will be eligible to win a share of $15,000 in cash prizes.

Clubs are encouraged to download the Kick Off the Conversation program e-book to learn more and complete the EOI to join the program in early 2024.

“Football West is committed to working with Healthway to continue to create supportive club environments that prioritise the mental health and wellbeing of footballers, coaches, officials, and supporters.”

Lotterywest and Healthway CEO Ralph Addis said Healthway was proud to continue its partnership with Football West to promote mental health and wellbeing.

“Through the launch of the new program we can directly engage with clubs on prioritising their mental health and wellbeing, and provide them access to relevant support, education, and training,” Mr Addis said.
