2024 State League Night Series: Eagles face Mandurah in semis

Mandurah City will take on Dianella White Eagles in the last four of the State League Night Series after both sides came through their quarter-finals on Sunday.

The game will take place at Percy Doyle Reserve this Friday at 8.30pm and follow the other semi-final between Sorrento FC and Joondalup United (6.30pm).

Mandurah ran over Curtin University in the second half at Paintseal Arena last night, eventually winning 6-1.

The game was still in the balance at the break, with Leigh Griffiths and Shaun Mukveho putting Mandurah two up before Jordan Valentini pulled one back for Curtin.

But once Griffiths grabbed his second just after the hour it was all Mandurah, and they ran away with the game with further goals from Charles Parry, Craig Barker and Zak Byrne.

Two goals in the opening 17 minutes proved decisive for Dianella in their quarter-final against Cockburn City. Diego Marin Dupre and Andrew Keogh put Eagles in the driving seat, with Ben Pike throwing City a lifeline in the second half.

On Friday, Joondalup United beat Gosnells City 3-1, while Sorrento FC won a penalty shoot-out against Joondalup City after a 2-2 draw.

Jamie Gardiner and Joel Sollitt had United two-up at the break. And though Aaron Coslani reduced the arrears for Gosnells, a goal from Tyler Holden re-established the two-goal cushion.

Meanwhile, a last-minute goal from Luke Salmon rescued Sorrento and they made the most of it with a shoot-out victory against Joondalup City.

Twice City led thanks to Liam Peacock and Eddie Wilcock, with Keegan Chambers and then Salmon on target for the Gulls, before Sorrento won an enthralling shoot-out 9-8.
