2024 NPLW Night Series: Meakins, Mathers make immediate impacts

Balcatta Etna began the NPLWA - Women's Night Series in the best possible manner, defeating newcomers UWA Nedlands 3-0 on Friday.

Abbey Meakins wasted no time in making an impression for her new side, netting after six minutes at Grindleford Reserve. Monique Godding added a second on the hour, with Kat Jukic grabbing the third late on.

The win means Balcatta are the early leaders in Group A after Perth RedStar and Hyundai NTC drew 1-1.

Klaudia Houlis gave NTC the lead on 10 minutes, with the RedStar goal coming late on from Jayna Ridley.

On Saturday in Group B, Fremantle City beat Murdoch University Melville 3-0 at Dorrien Gardens.

And Perth SC won by the same margin against Subiaco. New signing Sam Mathers scored two for Perth.
