2024 NPLM Night Series: Semis decided after Stirling beat Azzurri

Stirling Macedonia beat Perth SC 2-0 on Sunday to complete the line-up for the NPLM Night Series semi-finals.

Second-half goals from Ciaran Byrne and Calvin Whitney saw Stirling secure second spot in Group B and a last-four clash against Perth RedStar.

The other semi-final at the Sam Kerr Football Centre this Saturday is between Bayswater City, who finished top of Group B, and Olympic Kingsway. Olympic settled for second in Group A behind RedStar after the pair played out a goalless draw at Macedonia Park.

Sunday’s other games took place at Alfred Skeet Reserve, both in Group A.

Inglewood United ended their campaign in style, picking up a first win by turning over Balcatta Etna 7-0. Chad Nilson scored a hat-trick, Shubham Mokala two while Charlie Garnham and Benson Nsegetse got the others.

And Armadale signed off with a 2-1 victory over Western Knights. After going behind to Jesse Lazzaro’s opener, Armadale responded soon after through Nathan Costello with Ryley Wishart-Stephen bagging the winner in the second half.

On Friday, Bayswater ensured top spot in Group B with a 2-1 victory over Fremantle City. Two goals from substitute Joshua Anasmo won the game for Baysie, with another late sub Alex McLean grabbing Freo’s equaliser but the loss ended their hopes of reaching the last four.

Friday’s other game ended in a 4-2 win for Perth Glory over Floreat Athena. Malise Mpunga, Samuel Barry and Gert Prinsloo (2) scored for Glory, with Nicholas Ambrogio and Ethan Mom on target for Athena. The win temporarily put Glory second in Group B but they needed Sunday’s Stirling-Perth game to finish as a draw to make the semis.
