Football West hosted the first WA State Coaching Conference since 2019 on Saturday.
Almost 150 coaches attended the new Sam Kerr Football Centre for the event, the first since the end of the pandemic.

There were two excellent presentations from key speaker Football Australia Chief Football Officer Ernie Merrick.
He talked about the FA structure and updating the coach education process in line with the AFC, as well as a very interesting presentation on football current trends on the back of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, hosted by Australia and New Zealand.

There were also two practical sessions – a Skill Acquisition Program (SAP) session involving the Perth Glory Academy U13 Boys, and a Game Training session with players from the Hyundai NTC for Girls program.
Finally, Policy and Advocacy Manager Gareth Naven spoke to the coaches about the latest news from Football West.

Also in attendance were Football West CEO Jamie Harnwell, Coach Development Officer Cris Ola and Perth Glory Academy Director Kenny Lowe.
