2023 National Youth Championships for Girls: Garnett treble gives U16s winning start

The Gold Fields WA State Girls U16s have started the National Youth Championships campaign in the best possible manner in Wollongong this morning.

A hat-trick from Hyundai NTC prospect Emily Garnett gave Sam Geddes’ side a 3-1 win over Capital Football in their Group A clash at WIN Stadium.

The WA U16s are next in action on Tuesday against NSW Metro (7.05am WST) and Queensland Silver (12.30pm WST), both at JJ Kelly Park.

The Gold Fields WA State Girls U14s were also in action today as they took on NSW Metro at JJ Kelly Park.

Despite a goal from NTC’s Mabel Wilkinson, the WA side were defeated 3-1 in Group A.

Head coach Courtney Owen and the players must now prepare for two games on Tuesday at WIN Stadium, against Victoria (8.10am WST) and Northern NSW (1.35pm WST).
