Subiaco earn FFA NCDP recognition

Subiaco AFC have become the first WA club to obtain a four-star rating under the Football Federation Australia’s National Club Development Program (NCDP).

FFA launched the NCDP in September 2019 to assist administrators at grassroots football clubs.

Designed in collaboration with the nine member federations and a number of associations, zones and clubs, the aim of the NCDP is to provide a model for community-based football clubs to follow, to enhance and maintain standards for the benefit of all members.

The NCDP provides clubs with an online development platform that allows them to answer a series of questions regarding all facets of their football club. Its specific aims are to:

  • Improve processes and controls of affiliated community clubs

  • Assist member federations and governing bodies to better support clubs

  • Improve the efficiencies of the sport

  • Establish benchmarks of success across Australia

  • Improve player retention

Subiaco committed to the NCDP after signing up for Football West’s Building Stronger Clubs Program, which made grants of up to $1,500 available to clubs and associations for projects to build a stronger club.

Subiaco AFC secretary Jenny Palmer said: “It is nice to be recognised and it’s an acknowledgement how we manage our club.

“We think we’ve got pretty good processes and a transparent system in place anyway. It’s about being open and honest for our members and building a loyal club which will meet their needs and one where kids are not looking to go elsewhere.”

Football Federation Australia Member Services Manager Jeremy Toivonen said: “I applaud the Subiaco AFC, especially during these tough times, for their commitment to the development of their club for the ultimate benefit of their members.

“Football Federation Australia recognises that community based football clubs play a key role in the development of football in Australia.

“To raise the overall standard of club administration and operations at all levels of the game, Football Federation Australia has established the National Club Development Program (NCDP) providing a clear model to develop and maintain a successful football club.

“Football West and have been instrumental in engaging its member clubs with the NCDP and should be congratulated.”
