UWA fight back to earn draw at Perth AFC

The only game which took place in the Women’s State League Division One on Sunday provided plenty of entertainment as Perth AFC and top of the table UWA Nedlands shared the points.

While the torrential rain forced the postponement of the three other matches, Len Packham Reserve survived and those who braved the elements were rewarded with a 2-2 draw.

Linda Carnessali and Angela Cheaib stuck to give Perth a 2-0 lead inside the opening 16 minutes. But goals from Rebecca Saccoccio and Helene Williams replied to bring the scores level by the interval and that was the final result.

Despite the spirit shown in rescuing a point, this was a missed opportunity for UWA to extend their lead at the top to six points. They are currently four points better off than South West Phoenix and Sorrento, who have three games and one game in hand respectively.
