Bayswater, Wanneroo hosting semi-final double-headers

It’s a Night Series bonanza tonight with two sets of semi-finals taking place.

The NPL Night Series semis are at Bayswater City’s Frank Drago Reserve, with Perth SC facing Perth Glory followed by Gwelup Croatia against two-time holders Floreat Athena.

At the same time at Wanneroo City Soccer Club, the State League Night Series semi finals see Olympic Kingsway against Fremantle City then 2019 winners Forrestfield United versus Western Knights.

League champions Perth SC, seeking their maiden NPL Night Series title, inflicted Floreat’s first loss in the pre-season competition for three years  last week. But they will be aware of Glory’s upturn in form, having won their last three to take second place in the group.

Gwelup, who are building towards their first season in the NPL, have impressed in coming top of Pool Two. But it is impossible to dismiss 2018 and 2019 winners Floreat, especially if the tie goes to penalties where they have an outstanding record.

The NPL Night Series final will be at Inglewood United’s Perth Plasterboard Centre Stadium on Saturday, 7 March.

In the State League Night Series, Olympic Kingsway go into their semi against Fremantle knowing they will host the final on Sunday, 8 March.
