Three Strike Policy

Match Officials are critical to our sport and without them there would be no game. Clubs, Players, Team Officials, Parents and Spectators should treat them with respect and recognise that they too are often learning, and just like players, can only improve with more training and experience.

Football West has introduced a Three Strike Policy with regards to ongoing Match Official abuse at Clubs throughout Western Australia. Unacceptable behaviour towards Match Officials occurring both on and off the field will be targeted under the policy which has been built around awareness and enforcement.

The Three Strike Policy has been specifically designed to include measures that reduce ongoing abuse and inappropriate behaviour exhibited during football activities by incrementally increasing the consequences of such behaviour, with each instance marked with a Strike. The accumulation of Strikes will occur for Clubs who have repeated instances of abuse or misconduct directed at Match Officials, from a Team, Club or Club Associate.

In line with this policy, it is the responsibility of the home Club to implement sufficient policies and measures to protect the wellbeing and safety of all Match Officials and to manage behaviour to avoid incidents that may incur potential Strikes. The Three Strike Policy will be implemented with the following strikes:
