Spaces are selling fast for Football West’s next Football School holiday programs.
The Football Schools are three-day camps for enthusiastic players aged 7-15. They consist of three on-field sessions – technical development, tactical preparation and small-sided games – as well as a look at wider game preparation such as goal-setting, nutrition, rest and recovery, etc.
The upcoming Football Schools will take place at the Sam Kerr Football Centre in Queens Park during the September-October holiday. There will be two mixed (boys and girls) schools — with the first one now sold out, and one that is girls only.
Football West Program Development Lead Dean Evans, a former professional, and Female Football Development Coordinator and Perth Glory A-League defender Izzy Foletta will coordinate the programs.
During the last Football School, Perth Glory defender Josh Risdon kindly dropped in for a Q&A with the youngsters, as well as explaining what is required to reach the top and sharing his experiences when representing the Socceroos at the 2018 FIFA World Cup and captaining Western United to A-League Grand Final success in 2022.
Evans said: “Josh is a good friend and it was fantastic of him to take time out of his schedule to share his experiences with the boys and girls. I was really impressed with the thought the youngsters put into their questions and they all loved getting a selfie with him.
“This is the third holiday that we have put on the Football School and we are delighted with how popular it is and how engaged the young players are. The positive feedback we receive from parents and children is incredibly important as we are determined to offer a quality product for WA youngsters.”
