Cockburn City ended their 27-year wait for Men's State Cup glory after a stoppage-time penalty from Daniel Robinson gave them a 3-2 win over Armadale at Inglewood Stadium.

Robinson's successful spot-kick, his second of the match, came with the final seemingly heading for extra-time. Referee Josh Manella adjudged that Armadale keeper Yousri Gharsallah had deliberately taken out Cockburn's Jeff Bright on his follow through after collecting Ivan Skorich's flick-on, and pointed to the spot.

Gharsallah was sent off for the foul, which meant substitute keeper Alex Fisher was brought on to face the penalty which Robinson drilled low to his right and into the corner of the net.

It was a cruel way to lose for Armadale, who had shown great spirit to fight back from 2-0 down.

The final got off to a dramatic start when Cockburn were awarded a penalty after only three minutes. Armadale defender Connor Thurston upended Harry O'Brien and Robinson sent Gharsallah the wrong way.

Robinson then hit the post, while Cockburn keeper Ryan Barker had to be at his best as Armadale pushed for an equaliser.

If Cockburn's start to the first half was fast then they began the second on fire. Less than two minutes after the restart the ball was fed to Alessandro De Andrade Basto on the left and his cross was turned in by the incoming O'Brien for 2-0.

Things looked bleak for Armadale but they halved the deficit on 76 minutes when Pieter Jacobsz headed in Charlie Kenna's corner. And incredibly just two minutes later they were on terms. Substitute Kenna drove into the Cockburn box and drew a foul from Bright, the Armadale fans roared for a penalty and Manella obliged, giving Angel Andres Rivera the chance to shoot past Barker.

Suddenly Armadale had the momentum, but it wasn't to be and instead it was Cockburn celebrating thanks to Robinson's second penalty.

Cockburn skipper O'Brien was named player of the match.

The victory means the Cockerels will head into their Australia Cup Round of 32 clash away to Brisbane City on Wednesday in high spirits. But for Armadale, it was the second disappointment of the week after they saw their own Australia Cup dream ended by South Australian side Modbury Jets last Thursday.

- In the Men's U18s State Cup final, Bayswater City took the trophy for a fourth successive time with a 2-1 win over Perth Glory.

Daniel Adesina put Glory in front in the seventh minute when the ball ran into his path following Khoa Ngo's blocked shot.

Lachie Fuller levelled for Bayswater on 32 minutes when he was rewarded for supporting Cory McNelis' break with a low drive past Glory keeper Tyler Wilkie.

The two meetings between the sides in the NPL 18s this season have finished in draws but 19 minutes from time Bayswater ensured it would be different this time. Glory switched off on Fuller's throw, he found Sebastian Sayers and the substitute pulled back for Orhan Boric to hit the winner.

- Samuel Cook was the hero for Perth SC as they lifted the Men's Reserves State Cup with a 4-2 victory against Sorrento.

Cook, who has been scoring for fun in the NPL 20s and also has a goal in the first team, struck on 20 minutes after Phoenix Lee and Will Gordon opened up the Gulls defence.

Within 80 seconds, however, Sorrento were level as Ryan Stocks nipped in front of his marker to convert Max Worswick's cross.

Perth restored their lead 10 minutes later when Gordon headed a corner back across goal and Cook stooped to nod in.

Cook, the joint top scorer in the league with 16 goals, completed his hat-trick in style early in the second half. Lee escaped down the right and sent over an inviting cross which Cook finished with aplomb, cushioning a left-footed volley past Joel Driscoll.

Things were looking grim for Sorrento and 20 minutes from time it was game over as Cook and Lee linked up again, this time Cook the provider with a back-heel which Lee put away.

To their credit, the Gulls refused to throw in the towel and they got their second late on when Stocks' got his head to a corner and the assistant referee indicated the ball had crossed the line.
