Football West is to conduct a wide-ranging review of junior football in Western Australia.
With more youngsters than ever playing football in WA, Football West is inviting all of our stakeholders to get involved and have their say in helping shape the sport going forward.
All key areas of the junior game will be looked at in the review, including competition structure and format, club criteria, and talent development and pathways across both metropolitan and regional areas.
A Project Working Group will conduct a series of consultation workshops and surveys with all stakeholders, including parents, coaches, club administrators and regional associations.
All of the information will help Football West map out a five-year strategy plan for junior football across WA.
Football West CEO Jamie Harnwell said: “We know the thousands of people who are invested in junior football feel passionately about the game and want it to prosper.
“We want to capture that passion and the wide scope of views in this review.
“We are talking about the future of our sport and how best we can help our young players develop a life-long love for the game as well as providing appropriate, competitive environments to develop talent.”
The consultation workshops will begin in May and will be held both in person and virtually. Dates and venues of the workshops and how to get involved will be released soon.
The review is scheduled to be completed by the end of the 2023 season, with plans for a phased rollout from 2024.
