Fooball West appoints new General Manager - Football

Football West is pleased to confirm it has appointed David Lewis as its new General Manager – Football.

Mr Lewis comes with an extensive background in business operations and administration, with experience in sport and the wider leisure industry.

He will oversee all of Football West’s football operations.

“I am excited to have secured this position with Football West,” he said.

“It’s a great time to be joining a thriving organisation and a sport that I love.

“Football in Western Australia is going places and I want to help deliver a quality product for all of our stakeholders.

“My priorities are people, processes and performances.

“I want to help the people to be successful. That means giving them what they need so they can do their jobs, creating a great place to work and building a high-performance team culture.

“For people working at Football West, that allows them to focus on delivering for clubs and members.

“I want to lock down processes so that we can deliver on what we say we will do in a speedy and professional manner.”

The married father of two was a high-performance runner in his youth. After emigrating Down Under, the Manchester City supporter played at Hamersley Rovers while his son has been involved with Sorrento FC and Joondalup City.

“Growing up in England, football has always been a huge part of my life and it is a thrill to be involved in the sport in this capacity.”

Mr Lewis, who moved to Australia from the UK in 2003, takes over the role from Perry Ielati, who is now Football West’s Chief Operating Officer.

“Congratulations to David on the new role and he will be a great asset, both to the team at Football West and the football community of Western Australia,” Mr Ielati said.

“We carried out an extensive recruitment process to get the right person for the role and we are delighted to have secured David’s services.”
