Building Stronger Clubs Grant Recipients 2020

Twenty-four projects were awarded $1,500 funding from Football West through the 2020 Building Stronger Clubs grants program. The grants program was launched to future proof the sport by having good practice clubs and associations which provide a better all-round experience for all. The next grant round will be held in April 2021.

Balcatta Football Club - Girls Skills Acquisition Program

To provide existing female players within the Club the opportunity to further develop their individual skills and love of the game.

Baldivis Soccer Club - New Junior Goals

To supply Juniors with strong portable goals for matchdays.

Broome Soccer Association - BSA Online Marketing Project

The BSA has introduced a new website broomesoccer.com.  Prior to the Covid-19 outbreak we had no database of our members and no online registration for members and volunteers.  The new site means we can develop a database of players and volunteers and can then communicate and promote with them directly via email.  The new site also allows members to make online payments.  This reduces the need to handle money such as match fees for our social programmes.  It also means we can have pre-registration for our social programmes so that we can control numbers and trace who has attended.  The BSA is looking at a big financial loss in 2020 and has paid for the website out of its reserve funds.  This money will help to replace this and ensure our long-term viability.  The new site makes it easier to promote the association to stakeholders, volunteers and new players.

Bulgarra Glory Junior Soccer Club (Karratha & Districts Junior Soccer Association) - Club Re-Branding Project

Grow membership through rebranding the club - Grow committee through increased membership

CAFC Perth Lions - Facilities upgrade to ensure club independence

Directly procure equipment to enable CAFC Perth Lions to operate without assistance from other clubs.

Curtin Football Club - Sponsorship Strategy Development

Our project will aim to select a sponsorship consultant which fits with the clubs culture to help deliver:

- the establishment of go-to-market material to showcase club offerings to potential sponsors

- the establishment, coaching and maintenance of a Curtin Sponsorship Group with clear defined roles and responsibilities to approach and win sponsorship

- the re-commitment of existing sponsors for future years.

Revenue generated for the club will be used on junior development programs, increasing female participation and improve facilities for members and players.

Dianella Spartans Soccer Club - Enhancing Our Club

As we have no incoming revenue, and solely rely on sponsorship and fundraising, we would like to purchase a number of items that either we cannot afford or are not in our 2020/2021 budget.

Dianella White Eagles Soccer Club - Storage DWESC2020

Having storage facility so all football equipment is at one location and easily accessible by the coaches.

Forrestfield United Football Club - Golf Fundraising Day

1. Raise Funds for our community club to continue development of players for the 2021 season, whiles keeping fees as low as possible for familes and members.

2. Improve the profile of the club, with in  the professional community and seek to engage new partners for 2021 season

3. Increase sponsorship potential.

4. Engage in mutually beneficial marketing opportunities within a broader community group.

Fremantle Wolves Futsal - WSFL Team 

Create a pathway for females to train develop and compete at the Elite level in futsal.

Kelmscott Roos Soccer Club - Sponsorship Growth

Provide awareness of current sponsors and create interest for further club sponsorship during next season.

Obtain display flags for sponsorship. Initially to show appreciation to existing sponsors and to create interest for future sponsors.

Maddington White City Football Club - New Goal Posts

Maddington White City Football Club requires an upgrade to its goal posts and the money would go towards purchasing new much needed goals for the club.

Mandurah City Football Club - Physiotherapy treatment room

To deliver a clinically suitable space for treatment of players

Mindarie Football Club - Keeping Up to Date

- Ensuring Club is compliant with latest legislation

- Ensuring volunteers are supported to manage the governance of the club

- Training new and up skilling existing Committee members

- Supporting the club transition to increased volunteers with appropriate management and operational plans 

Murdoch University Melville Football Club - Improving female involvement, facilities & fundraising

Northcliffe United Soccer Club (Lower South West Soccer Association) - Equipment Upgrade

To provide newer equipment for our players by purchasing new footballs.

Perth Royals Football Club - Kitchen Upgrades

To improve the catering facilities at Perth Royals FC by installing a professional oven and cooking hub facility. This will directly influence the clubs ability to generate revenue which is a key component of our wider plan to improve the capacity and sustainability of the football club.

Sorrento Football Club - Building for the future

To obtain professional consultancy services to enable the club to produce the clubs vision for the future together with the ability to provide the finished documentation to funding bodies ie State, Federal, Lottery West etc.. To enable the club to apply for grants to commence building two dedicated female and less abled player changing rooms to cater for a minimum of 20 players per change room.

South Perth Futsal Club - South Perth Futsal Website Launch

Our club's objective is to grow our professional image and provide more accurate and up-to-date information to the public and our local community, especially reaching out to the broader WA community and assisting by increasing visibility for those who are not attuned to the newer social media platforms. A website will allow us to grow our brand. We want to increase our engagement with members of the WA community through Futsal and want to provide more opportunities for members of all capabilities to develop through the sport. The website will allow for easier dissemination of information and engagement with the general public, allowing people to be a part of the South Perth Brand either as a participant or a supporter.

South Perth United Football Club - Marketing and Promotion

Marketing with printed material. Tear drop banners for display - Canteen, Club, Registration, Online Marketing to generate more player registrations and attract more local businesses to sponsor next year.

Subiaco AFC - Subiaco AFC History Board

Trace, document and communicate Subiaco AFC's history dating back to around 1909 for the benefit of creating and encouraging community involvement and loyalty at Subiaco AFC.

Swan Districts Soccer Association - Stronger SDSA

Upskill our Committee, review constitution, improve organisational processes, Better understand the management of facilities and the expectations of the club.

To obtain professional support to review the constitution and develop internal organisational processes to ensure the association meets the needs of current members and is adaptable to future change. Effectively upskill our committee to be able to implement the processes to achieve growth. Undertake governance training.

UWA-Nedlands Football Club - UWANFC Risk Management

This project seeks to complete a risk assessment of our club, including our four playing locations as well as an audit of our various policies and procedures pertaining to privacy, harassment, volunteer management, etc. These findings will be used to develop a risk management plan with subsequent establishment of internal roles and responsibilities to implement the risk management plan. 

Westnam United Soccer Club - 2020 Asian Cup @ Shelvock Park

The Club promotes cultural diversity and inclusion.

With the new $2m Shelvock Park Clubhouse just completed and in use. The Westnam United SC take this opportunity with this great facilities from the City of Wanneroo to host the 2nd Asian Cup Soccer Tournament, which supported by Senator Dean Smith, as this tournament is the great way to connect Asian Communities to participate in sport and interaction between Asian Communities in Perth. Asian communities in Perth included Vietnam, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, China, India, Korea, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar (Burma), Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand. A third of participant are recent refugees and migrants to Australia.The Club hope that with the Building Strong Club Program funding of $1500 will help the 2020 Asian Cup Soccer Tournament to have full facilities equipment and additional volunteers to supports and serve the local Asian Community in Perth.
