2024 NPLW Night Series: RedStar, Fremantle complete last four

The semi-finals of the NPLW Night Series have been decided, with Perth SC facing Perth RedStar and Balcatta Etna taking on Fremantle City.

The games will take place at the Sam Kerr Football Centre this Friday.

Fremantle booked their spot in the last four on Saturday with a 1-1 draw against Perth SC, a result which ensured the Azzurri finished top of Group B. Both goals came in the opening half, Anna Powell netting for Freo with Jess Flnanery levelling for Perth.

The draw meant Subiaco were unable to advance from the group, despite their earlier 5-1 defeat of Murdoch University Melville. Cassandra Harvey scored two for Subi, with their other goals from Stella Zampogna, Tayna Campos and Dakota Van-Vugt. Taylor Reid was MUM FC's scorer.

RedStar went down 2-0 to Group A winners Balcatta but were already through because Hyundai NTC had failed to beat UWA Nedlands. Lucy Jerram put Etna in front inside 15 minutes and Monique Prinsloo wrapped up the win on the hour.

UWA looked on course for their first Night Series win since joining the NPL when they raced into a three-goal in the opening 33 minutes against NTC. Emily Dinsdale opened the scoring before Charlotte Swan added two more.

NTC probably knew their chances of a top-four finish were dead in the water at that stage but they fought back after the break to earn a share of the points. Maja Archibald threw them a lifeline, then two goals in an eight-minute spell by Jessica Johnson and Nelli Johnson brought them level.
