UWA extend lead after Phoenix draw with Sorrento

It was a good weekend for UWA Nedlands in Women’s State League Division One as they moved six points clear of their two nearest rivals.

UWA won 4-0 at home to bottom club Gwelup Croatia. They were three up at half-time through goals from Jacqueline Chiastra, Emily Dinsdale and Helene Williams. Monique Saunders added the fourth.

And it got even better for the league leaders with second-place South West Phoenix and Sorrento, in third, playing out a goalless draw in Bunbury. Phoenix do have three games in hand on UWA while Sorrento have one, but this title race looks like it is going down to the wire.

Elizabeth Green struck first to give City the lead at the interval, but ECU turn the game round through Molly Elphick and Amy Buchanan.
