Strong NTC finish sees off game UWA

Hyundai NTC U15s displayed their potential as they defeated UWA Nedlands 5-2 in the Hyundai Women's State League Night Series final at E&D Litis Stadium.

But don't be fooled by the final scoreline - both teams played their part in a fantastic game which was all-square until into the second period of extra-time.

It was only then that NTC broke free, scoring three goals in the last 12 minutes.

It was UWA who struck first, with Emily Dinsdale shooting past Amber Atkinson on 23 minutes.

The score stayed that way until 12 minutes into the second half when Sophia Brooks' determination was rewarded with the equalsier.

Three minutes later Dinsdale was on hand to restore UWA's lead, stabbing home after Ischia Brooking had blocked a header on the line.

Back came NTC and on 70 minutes it was 2-2 as Mia Britton was played in down the right and she squeezed the ball home at keeper Tori Carta's near post.

With Lacey Heys pulling the strings, NTC were getting on top. But they had to wait until the 108th minute before finally getting their noses in front, Emily Garnett seeing her initial effort brilliantly saved by Carta before smashing home at the second attempt.

Harper Collinson then scored NTC's fourth with a low shot from the edge of the box which went in off the post, before skipper Ruby Cuthbert exploited UWA's tired marking with a fifth right at the end.

Meanwhile, Hamersley Rovers won the Hyundai Women's Amateur Night Series with a 2-1 defeat of Subiaco in the final.

A  brave finish from Jamie Jenkins on 14 minutes and Jordanna Henderson's penalty just after the hour put Rovers 2-0 up. Subiaco pulled one back six minutes from the end but they were unable to find an equaliser.
