Football West is inviting boys born in 2008 and 2007 to attend trials for the respective Gold Fields State Under 14 and Under 15 teams with a view to representing Western Australia at the National Youth Championships later this year.
The trials will be conducted across two weeks at Gibbney Reserve, Maylands, during the April school holidays.
The first week is open to players from clubs in metro Community leagues, affiliated competitions such as WACFA and regional, plus anyone not currently in a Football West competition. Players are expected to attend at least two of the three sessions.
Successful trialists will be invited back for the following week, when they will be joined by players from Junior NPL clubs and metro and regional Hyundai Talent Support Program (TSP). Again, players will need to attend two of the three sessions.
After Week Two, a train-on squad will be selected to train once a week for further assessment before the final State squad is selected.
Football West Football Development Officer Gareth Naven said: “It is exciting to be able to invite players for trials for the Gold Fields State teams, especially as we are confident the National Youth Championships at Coffs Harbour will go ahead in September after a two-year break for Covid.
“The trials are being split to ensure that each player gets the best opportunity to impress.
“The numbers we had last year were fantastic and we want to see as many talented players as possible. Coaches who already have experience of metro TSP and Junior NPL players may not necessarily have knowledge of other players. It will be good to give them the chance to come through.”

When: Tuesday 12 April, Wednesday 13 April and Thursday 14 April (players must attend at least two sessions)
