Regional Festival of Football heads back to Busselton

Football West’s annual Regional Festival of Football takes place in Busselton next week.

The highlight will be the Round Eight NPLWA – Men’s fixture between Sorrento and Perth Glory at Barnard Park on Saturday 14 May.

The game kicks off at 3pm and will be preceded by a game between local sides. The Hyundai NTC NPLWA – Women’s side will also be in town that day, putting on a clinic for local youngsters.

Glory will conduct an open training session for supporters on the Friday night.

The visit to the South West city will also see Football West help celebrate the 100th anniversary of Busselton City FC. The club fields senior men’s and senior women’s teams in the South West Soccer Association and junior sides in the Leeuwin Naturaliste Junior Soccer Association.

There will be a series of free workshops, coaching and referee courses and other programs with clubs and schools in the days before the game.

A two-night Level 4 Referee Course will take place on Thursday 12 April and Friday 13 April, from 6-9pm. To register click here. Participants will need to complete both the online Laws of the Game element and the pre-work prior to the course. Simply visit the Football West website and complete steps 1 and 2.

This will be the second time the Regional Festival of Football will be held in Busselton. The previous occasion was in 2019, with Glory winning the Regional Cup match 5-2.

Football West General Manager - Football Perry Ielati said: “We are excited to be taking the Regional Festival of Football back to Busselton, where we know there is a strong passion for the sport.

“These events cannot take place without assistance from others and we would like to acknowledge the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries and the City of Busselton for their support and funding.”
