The top of the Women’s State League Division One has a familiar look with South West Phoenix and Sorrento filling the first two places.
Phoenix hit top form with a 6-1 win over Mandurah City, with Shauna Wetherell and Savannah Olsthoorn both scoring doubles and Carrie Caffrey and Lucy Scott also on target.
Sorrento kept pace with the leaders, winning 3-1 at Perth AFC with the goals coming from Kaley Cornell, Jodie Brough and an Elise Cleminson own goal.
Third-place UWA Nedlands were awarded a 3-0 forfeit win over Gwelup Croatia, while ECU Joondalup are now in fourth after they beat Stirling Macedonia 2-0. Aimee Coghlan and Tinette Van Niekerk got the goals.
In the Women’s Amateur League, Curtin University are the new frontrunners after Sharon Loader and Rhianna Burgess gave them a 2-0 win over Hamersley Rovers.
That result, and Fremantle City (Black) suffering their first loss of the season, means Curtin sit a point clear of the field. Indigo Deakin Buckley and Gabriella Seerden were the scorers for Forrestfield United as they upset City 2-0 at Wauhop Park.
Star performance came from Julia Pytte, who scored six in UWA Nedlands’ 9-0 win at Balga.
Other winners were Ellenbrook United and Northern Redbacks.
Emily Kriskovich hit two as Ellenbrook won 5-1 at ECU Joondalup, while Redbacks ran out 5-2 victors away to Perth AFC. An early double from Linda Carnessali put Perth in charge, but Redbacks were in front by half-time through goals from goals from Megan Sherwen-Slater, Ciara Buckingham and Sienna Stepien. In the second half Redbacks pulled away, Opal Mohammad Zainurrafiq and Sara Kifayatullah making the points safe.
