Murdoch University Melville and Swan United are well placed following Tuesday night’s first legs of the Men's State League Inter-Divisional Promotion Playoff semi-finals.

MUM FC will head into Friday’s second leg at Gosnells City as favourites following their 2-0 win at Wormall Civil Stadium.

First-half goals from Daniel Tait and Dylan Urquhart proved enough but Murdoch head coach Taki Nicolaidis said the job was only half done.

“I thought we deserved the win but we’re under no illusions that we’ll need to be at our best on Friday,” Nicolaidis said.

“It was important we didn’t concede. I thought we dealt quite well with what they threw at us. But we have to do it again in the second leg.”

Meanwhile, John Monterosso scored twice, including a last-minute winner, as Swan United won 3-2 at Kingsley Westside.

Alex Young put the visitors in front on 14 minutes before Kingsley quickly turned thing around thanks to Darren O’Riordan and skipper Jayden Drummond.

Monterosso brought Swan level just before half-time and he had the final word before Saturday’s second leg.

The two winners will meet in the Playoff final, with a spot in Division One for 2022 at stake.
