MUM FC beat Swan to gain promotion

Three goals in a devastating five-minute spell saw Murdoch University Melville gain promotion to Men's State League Division One with a 4-1 aggregate victory over Swan United in the State League Inter-Divisional Playoffs final.

MUM FC's second-half blast at the Swan Italian Club in Saturday's second leg left the home side reeling after having secured a 1-1 draw in the first leg with a stoppage-time equaliser.

But Swan were punished for some poor defending as Taki Nicolaidis' side took full advantage in front of a raucous travelling support.

Dion Berman opened the scoring on 55 minutes from close range, two minutes later Patrick Sara's effort from distance somehow found its way in, then Swan's collapse was complete after a needless handball gave Berman the chance to score his second from the penalty spot. 

The result means Swan are relegated to Division Two.
