Unveiling the car, valued at $35,865, were young sons Jackson and Declan, both proudly sporting their Perth kits.

And with Perth SC selling the winning ticket, club president Gary Marocchi collected a cheque for $2,500 on behalf of the NPLWA – Men’s champions.

Nick said: “The club handed out the raffle books for us to sell and we purchased our book and we ended up winning … it was a huge surprise.

“The car is more than what we expected, a really nice colour. It looks great, it’s such a great prize and we are definitely going to keep it.”

The Hyundai Community Football Raffle sees all funds raised retained by clubs and associations. This year there were 91,000 tickets sold – a jump of 52,000 from the previous raffle. Including prize money, that meant a whopping $193,000 went into grassroots football in Western Australia in 2021.

“From our perspective as parents, it’s great that Hyundai and Football West are able to run this raffle and we are able to see this money go into local sport, which will result in good coaching and good training, something the kids can benefit from,” Nick said.

Hyundai WA Regional General Manager Michael Beros said: ”On behalf of Hyundai Australia and the Hyundai dealerships across WA, we are simply blown away by the success of the Community Football Raffle. After having the 2020 raffle sadly taken from us due to the pandemic, we’ve now got over 193,000 reasons to celebrate … it truly is simply amazing.”

Football West Chief Football Officer Jamie Harnwell said: “Congratulations to Nick, Maria and the boys on winning the car, it’s a terrific prize and I’m sure they will get great enjoyment out of it.

“Football West would also like to thank Hyundai Australia for their magnificent support of local football, our clubs and associations really see the benefit. And well done to the clubs and their members for getting involved and purchasing tickets for their clubs.”
