Maddington down champions North Perth

Maddington White City started their 2021 Belt Up Amateur Premier Division season with an exciting 3-2 win over champions North Perth United on Sunday.

Andres Gonzalez gave City the lead inside two minutes, but Scott Wrightson quickly levelled for the visitors from the penalty spot.

Maddington retook control in the second half with two goals from Samir Ramos. And although Wrightson netted his second, United were unable to find the equaliser.

Lee Bates kicked off the season in style with a hat-trick in Kwinana United’s 4-0 win over Jaguar FC. Neal Beveridge got the other.

A double from Ryan McCready gave Quinns FC a 2-0 victory against Queens Park.

Substitute Manuel Arapis hit a late winner for UWA Nedlands as they won 3-2 at Joondalup United. Adam Buckley opened the scoring for Joondalup, a lead they kept until half-time. But goals from Walter Torres and Abel Thomas-Hy turned the game around, before Adam Rogers levelled for United 12 minutes from the end. However, UWA were not to be denied and Arapis popped up with the decider.

Hamersley Rovers v Wembley Downs was postponed due to pitch unavailability at Carine, while South West Phoenix are second behind Kwinana on goal difference after they were awarded a 3-0 win because of a forfeit by Leeming Strikers.
