Golden boy Hodgson to face former side in FFA Cup

UPDATE: Perth SC advanced to the fifth round (WA) of the FFA Cup with a 2-0 away win at Murdoch University Melville.

Goals from Lachie Byrd and Riley van Dieken gave the Azzurri the win in a tie that ended 20 minutes early because of floodlight failure. The result will stand.

Perth will be at home to Belt Up Amateur side Kwinana United in the next roound.

There are two all-NPL games in the next round which involve three of the four sides who last represented WA at the national stage.

Gwelup Croatia, who reached the last 32 in 2018, host Floreat Athena (2019). And Bayswater City, who were also at the national stage two years ago, are at home to Balcatta.

The fourth side are Armadale, who famously had the longest domestic trip for a match three years ago when they flew to Cairns. John O'Reilly's side can forget about air miles for now, as they look forward to an away tie against 2020 Amateur Premier title winners North Perth United.

NPL champions ECU Joondalup make the short journey to State League Division One Olympic Kingsway. That match will see ECU's 2020 Golden Boot winner Danny Hodgson return to the club he helped fire to promotion in 2018.

Carramar Shamrock Rovers upset Forrestfield United 4-3 to earn an away trip to NPL high-fliers Sorrento, Rockingham City host Gosnells CIty, while recent State League Night Series winners Mandurah City are home against Cockburn City.

The games will be played in the week starting 26 April.
