Gold Fields Boys State teams confirmed

NYC

Football West can confirm its Gold Fields Boys State squads to represent Western Australia at the National Youth Championships for Boys in September.

The U14 and U15 squads were named following a comprehensive trials and training selection, which began in May. Football West will also take two sides from Perth Glory.

Both teams will compete under the Western Australia name.

This will be the first time the Championships have been held since 2019, when WA were crowned U14 Member Federation National Champions.

Football West Football Development Officer Gareth Naven said: “Well done to all the players selected and thanks to everyone who tried out.

"We had terrific numbers and it is great that the hunger to represent the state is as strong as ever.

“It has been unfortunate that because of Covid, we have not been able to send teams to Coffs Harbour for the National Youth Championships for the past two years. That makes this year extra special.

“I’d like to thank all of the coaches and parents who attended the trials, and again recognise our partner Gold Fields who are the name sponsor of all of Football West’s State teams.”

The National Youth Championships for Boys is between 26-30 September.

The National Youth Championships for Girls will take place between 19-23 September, with the two squads named earlier this week.
