Hyundai TSP goalkeeper coach

What is TSP?

The Football Australia player pathway for girls and boys supports the development of all potentially talented players throughout their football journey. The pathway for young players to reach their potential can vary immensely and as such there is not one way to achieving national team selection.

The Talent Support Programs (TSP) exist across regional and metropolitan areas to give identified players access to additional training to supplement their club training.

The TSP will focus on individual and team playing principles.

• Players receive one training session per week with Football West accredited coaches in addition to their club training

• Matches between TSP hubs are played. These matches are played at a time that a training session would normally occur

Tasks and responsibilities

This is a casual position reporting directly to the Football West Football Development Officer.

The Hyundai TSP Goalkeeper Coach has the responsibility to deliver training and game related aspects. He or she will:

  • Conduct trials and identify talented players for Football West programs
  • Assist goalkeepers in their development as to increase their chances to be identified for the National Youth Camps and National Youth Team
  • Liaise with Football Australia goalkeeper technical department
  • Organise and deliver the training program, based on Football Australia guidelines as introduced in the Level One course. This includes best practice in line with game related practice of Perception, Decision and Execution (PDE), in coordination with the Football West Youth Development Officer

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of a valid FA Goalkeeper Level 1 Licence
  • Ability to plan and deliver effective training sessions
  • Good communication skills

Prerequisites

A person must be eligible to work in Australia in order to be employed by Football West and must also provide:

  • Eligibility to work in Australia
  • A current Working with Children check
  • A current Driver’s Licence

Hyundai SAP coach

The Hyundai Skill Acquisition Phase (SAP) coach has the primary responsibility to design and conduct quality sessions for the program.

SAP is the golden age of motor learning, making it an important stage of technical development and improving player pathway.

SAP is inclusive for all Australian girls and boys aged 9-12 years who have a passion and interest to play football.

This is a casual role reporting to the Football Development Officer and key responsibilities will include:

  • Knowledge of the National Football Curriculum in the Skill Acquisition Phase
  • Deliver a program from February through to September, with breaks during school holiday
  • Expose players to more activities that closely resemble the demands of the real game
  • Create fun games in practical sessions to grow children’s passion for football and keep them in the game for life
  • Playing more games to help develop thinking players that can make good decisions in matches

Skills and experience

  • Current Skill Training certificate
  • C Youth Licence minimum, or if not, be available to attend the next available FA Youth C Licence 
  • Knowledge of Football Australia’s The Football Coaching Process manual
  • The ability to communicate effectively with young girls and boys is essential, with prior work in the SAP age group desirable
  • The successful candidates will be socially confident, approachable and have a positive temperament
  • High-level planning skills and ability to self-direct
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to work on evenings and weekends
