Football West seeks Policy and Advocacy Manager

Football West is seeking a Policy and Advocacy Manager.

The Policy and Advocacy Team leads the development and oversight of football activities across the organisation for all stakeholders. The goal of the team is to support the continued growth of the game by ensuring all football participants have a fun, enjoyable and safe environment in which to train and play. 

This team will lead our Talent Development and Coach Education pathways, as well as playing a key role in the growth of football through engagement with government and non-government stakeholders.

We are currently seeking candidates who are passionate about football development, hold a minimum of Football Australia/AFC ‘A’ Licence or equivalent, and have experience executing strategy and operational plans.

This role will be leading a team of four, which will enable and drive continued growth in participation and talent development of football across Western Australia.

Main duties of the role (but not limited to)

  • Conduct and lead research data to inform strategy and communications to drive actionable change in football in WA
  • Develop and maintain a strong network of stakeholders throughout Asia to deliver on Football West’s Asian Engagement Strategy
  • Lead the team to develop content to support communications externally to increase engagement and maximise participation
  • Oversee the management, organisation and delivery of the Hyundai NTC program
  • Lead the team to deliver the talent development and coach education programs to support football in Western Australia
  • Lead the growth of the WA State Team program and identify opportunities for competition both within Australia and Asia
  • Promote inclusive practices and ensure any programs implemented include all segments of the football community
  • Support the development and delivery of the FIFA WWC2023 and legacy strategy as required
  • Champion Female Football and assist with the development and execution of strategies to improve engagement and participation
  • This position leads engagement, collaboration and innovation that creates improved value and raises the profile of football across football, government, media and broader public platforms

Key relationships include Football West clubs and associations, local government authorities, Football Australia and Asian clubs and associations.

Skills and experience

  • Minimum of Football Australia/AFC ‘A’ Licence or equivalent
  • Sports Management or other degree is desirable
  • Strong understanding of football in Australia and Asia
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills and ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Sound analytical capabilities and ability to use data to drive business outcomes
  • Enthusiastic with a high-level of self-motivation and initiative
  • Able to work effectively with multiple internal and external stakeholders, and cross functional teams and support with key communications
  • Experience working, aligning and collaborating with global team

What's on offer?

This is a 12-month fixed term role which will require travel through WA, Australia and Asia. There will also be a substantial amount of working hours spent working outside of normal 9 to 5 including on weekends.

  • A current Working with Children check
  • A current Driver’s Licence
