Football West, Gold Fields sign contract extension

Football West is delighted to announce a three-year extension to our partnership with mining giant Gold Fields.

This is great news for football in Western Australia as we continue to work closely with a valued partner and build towards the 2023 Women’s World Cup.

Gold Fields will continue as Football West’s Official Partner in the following areas:

  • Football West’s WA State teams
  • Women’s Challenge Cup match
  • Men’s Challenge Cup match
  • The Goldfields region

Football West CEO James Curtis said: “Football West and Gold Fields have been partners since 2018 and we have developed a fantastic relationship based on our shared values of mutual respect, fair play and excellence.

“Gold Fields’ backing for more than 20 State teams is a real endorsement of the talented players who represent the State, both across Australia and overseas.

“The 2023 Women’s World Cup coming to Perth also offers us a great opportunity to share our joint message, especially with players who have played for the Gold Fields State team potentially being in and around the Matildas squad in two years’ time.”

Mr Curtis added: “This partnership is key to us having a full-time officer in the Goldfields region and continuing to support and grow the game across the region.

“Football West would also like to recognise the support provided by Gold Fields last year when there was a great deal of uncertainty. Gold Fields has shown itself to be a true friend of football.”

Gold Fields Executive Vice President: Australasia Stuart Mathews said: “Gold Fields is proud to continue our partnership and sponsorship of Football West.

“Both Football West and Gold Fields have great alignment on shared values and diversity of participation. We are also attracted to the great reach that the sport has across Western Australia and often in smaller communities and regions where our employees and stakeholders can actively participate. It’s a game for all.”
