Club Changer: Fremantle City named July Club of the Month

Fremantle City Club Changer

Fremantle City have been named Football West Club Changer Club of the Month for July.

This month's theme was Investment, Infrastructure and Strategic Partnership, which was reflected by Fremantle's redevelopment of Wauhop Park.

The upgrade attracted $1.5 million in funding from the WA Government and local partners, plus a $300,000 Women’s World Cup Legacy Grant. This enabled the club to deliver a facility to support its female football programs.

Fremantle City boasts over 33% female participation, with the target of a 50/50 gender balance by 2027.

Wauhop Park now serves all female teams at the club, providing:

  • Purpose-built change rooms designed for women and girls
  • A video analysis room, gym, and AV system to support player development
  • Enhanced match-day infrastructure including seating, fencing, and dugouts

Fremantle City Girls Academy Manager Rudi Cyrbja said: "These upgrades were made possible through years of relationship-building with government, council and community stakeholders. The club’s leadership worked collaboratively to identify infrastructure gaps, align with national priorities, and deliver a facility that meets the needs of over 1,500 members across nearly 100 teams.

"This project is more than an investment in bricks and mortar - it’s a strategic step toward equity, excellence, and long-term growth in Western Australian football."
