Club Changer Club of the Month: Carramar Shamrock Rovers

Congratulations to Carramar Shamrock Rovers who are Football West’s Club Changer Club of the Month for August. This month’s theme is Diversity, Equality and Inclusion.
Carramar Shamrock Rovers partnered with Football Futures Foundation last year to run their first All-Abilities team following an approach from Paul Dailly, who is now the team coach.
Foundation Inclusion Programs Lead Mick Owens worked with the club to get the All-Abilities program up and running. Rovers allocated an accessible training area near the clubhouse at their Grandis Park home to create a welcoming and inclusive space for both players and families. This fostered a positive environment where parents feel engaged and the kids are encouraged and excited to participate.

Daily said: “We started with just four children and have now grown to 14, with three also joining our mainstream teams. One of the most memorable moments came during our very first match, when a young player ran up with a huge smile and said, ‘This is the best day ever!’
“Moments like this capture exactly why the program is so important.”

Football West Club Development Lead Mo Syafiq said: “Carramar Shamrock Rovers have done great work in the areas of diversity, equality and inclusion and are worthy winners of the Club Changer Club of the Month.
“They faced challenges to get the program off the ground but through hard work, word of mouth and social media, they have created a safe, supportive and fun atmosphere for the children to participate.
“The club recently became a 2-Star Club Changer club and have some fantastic community initiatives.”
