2022 NPLWA - Men's fixtures released

The fixtures for the 2022 NPLWA – Men’s season have been released with Stirling Macedonia FC kicking off their top-flight return with a trip to Armadale Soccer Club Inc.

Stirling spent two seasons in Division One of the State League, gaining promotion in style in Ian Ferguson’s first year as head coach.

They have recruited strongly for the new campaign, most notably attracting Gold Medal winner Calvin Whitney from league champions Perth SC.

The Azzurri, who have brought in Marc Wingell as head coach, overhauled Floreat Athena to clinch a fourth NPL title in six years and last season’s top two will meet on the opening weekend at Dorrien Gardens.

Sorrento Football Club enjoyed a strong campaign in 2021, finishing just six points off the summit in third. They have Trevor Morgan back as head coach and their opening game is away to Cockburn City Soccer Club, who have also turned to a familiar face in Mirko Jelicic.

Perth Glory will again play their home matches at Forrestfield United’s Crazy Domains Stadium, including a Round One evening kick-off against Bayswater City Soccer Club.

The two other opening games see newly named Perth RedStar FC, formerly ECU Joondalup Soccer Club, host Gwelup Croatia SC, who will look for an improved season under new man Mitch Prentice. Balcatta Etna FC, another side who had an underwhelming 2021, are at home to Inglewood United Football Club.

All of the opening round games are scheduled for Saturday 19 March. The 22-round league season will wrap up on 27 August.
