Socceroos Head Coach Graham Arnold in Perth

Socceroos Head Coach Graham Arnold has been in Perth today to promote next month’s World Cup qualifier against Kuwait.

Arnold and Football West CEO James Curtis spoke at HBF Park, where the 26 March game will be held.

Australia currently sit top of Group B, two points clear of Kuwait and with a game in hand.

Arnold said there was no question he would select the strongest team available for the Second Round fixture.

“We will bring our strongest team available, 100% … I’m promising that,” he said.

“It doesn’t matter who we play, it’s best players available.”

Arnold said his squad was keen to reconnect with the Australian support as they bid to qualify for Qatar 2022.

“It’s always a great place to come here, it’s a beautiful football stadium. It’s great for the fans as well because they are close to the action,” he said.

“The boys are really excited to come home, we’ve only had three games back in Australia since the 2018 World Cup.

“We are very grateful to the WA Government and the WA tourism for hosting this game.”

Mr Curtis said the game was a great opportunity for WA youngsters to get on board the Socceroos bandwagon and see their heroes in the flesh.

“The last Socceroos game in Perth was in 2016 and we saw almost a full house,” he said.

“For Football West and the football community in WA, there’s no better time to come and see your heroes.

“We’re coming into big registration (period) and it’s a good chance for kids to come along with their families and see the best Australia has to offer.

“It’s really important from a West Australian perspective that we have these top level matches, Socceroos and Matildas, here.”

Mr Curtis also urged the WA public to support the activations that will take place in the build-up to the game, including the free ‘Fan Day’ which was announced by Football Federation Australia today.
