This will be followed by the Women’s NPL clash between the Football West Hyundai NTC and Perth Soccer Club (5pm).

The night before, on Friday, 14 August, there will be an open training session at Centennial Park Western Precinct Sporting Facilities.

During the week there are a number of football activities scheduled, including regional coaching workshops in Katanning, Mt Barker and Denmark, a MiniRoos Certificate Coaching Course, a Club Development Workshop and a Referee Level 4 Entry Course.

More details will be released nearer the time.

The Festival was originally scheduled for May but was postponed due to COVID-19.

City of Albany CEO Andrew Sharpe said: “Football is one of the fastest growing sports in the Great Southern, so we are really excited to welcome Football West to Albany in August, and are fortunate to be in a situation where this opportunity can proceed with the easing of COVID-19 restrictions.

“There is a strong affiliation between sport and the Great Southern, where the community have a passion for an active lifestyle and embrace opportunities that allow them to come together in our great outdoors.”

Football West CEO James Curtis said: “We are excited to be bringing the Regional Festival of Football to Albany.

“We had a false start earlier this year but we were always set on ensuring the Festival took place in Albany this year.
“There is great support for football in the Great Southern and we look forward to showcasing some of the best talent from Perth in the region.

“We would like to thank the City of Albany and the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, whose support and funding have made it possible.”

Football West would also like to acknowledge our partners including our Official Regional Partner Gold Fields; Hyundai, the name sponsor of the Football West NTC team; the Insurance Commission of Western Australia and Healthway.
