United Reds Football League launched

Football West has joined forces with the biggest club in the world to launch the United Reds Football League.

The United Reds Football League will see Football West partner Manchester United, as well as Inclusion Solutions and Telethon.

The initiative will offer opportunities for children aged 8-12 years to join a local club, wear their club shirt and belong to their communities through football.

The inclusive United Reds Football League represents an inspiring opportunity for clubs, players, their families and the wider community.

The start of this league provides a further expansion and pathway from Football West’s current Equal Footingball program.

Inclusion Solutions General Manager Denver D’Cruz said: “The United Reds Project will promote a strong sense of belonging for people in Western Australian communities.

“Joining forces with the largest sporting team in the world in Manchester United FC will be life-changing for many children with and without disabilities. Through the support of the Manchester United Foundation, the football community in WA will receive unprecedented support.

“Eight clubs will participate in the inaugural year of the United Reds League. Based on the tremendous interest, we are confident that this will grow in years to come. A lot of credit must go to the Manchester United Foundation, Telethon and to Football West on how they have supported football clubs across WA thus far.

“The United Reds project will ensure that more children of diverse backgrounds and ability levels take up the great sport of football. Local sport. Local clubs. Local kids. All supported by some of the biggest names in the business in Manchester United, Telethon and Football West!”

“The league will provide further opportunity to the players, coaches and communities within our Equal Footingball Program, as well as new players.

“Our vision at Football West is that we make the game accessible and a great experience for all. We take great pride in having the opportunity to support the United Reds League and look forward to the league’s kick-off in the near future.

“Having football as a driving force to engage and inspire young people to build a better life for themselves and unite the communities in which they live is an integral part of our sport.”
