Save the date and start the countdown – Football West is thrilled to announce the 2020 season will return on Sunday, 21 June.
The news is reward for the hard work put in across the WA football community as players and coaches, referees and volunteers now gear up for the big day.
Our competitions will return in two stages.
The majority will start on 21 June, including:

MiniRoos (including Imagine Cruising U12s)

Smarter than Smoking Junior Girls and Boys Leagues
-
Belt Up Amateur, Metropolitan and Masters Leagues

State League Women
-
NPL Juniors
These seasons will finish on Sunday, 4 October with no break for school holidays.
Then on the weekend of 4/5 July, the following will return:

NPL Men
-
NPL Women
-
State League Men
These seasons will finish with a grand final over the weekend of 10/11 October.
The return dates are subject to the further easing of restrictions by the WA State Government, which are expected to be announced soon.
Football West recognises the impact COVID-19 has had on our 240 clubs and associations, and the great work they have done in helping get us to this position. The Football West Club Support page on our website will continue to be updated as more information from the State Government is released.

And we acknowledge the efforts of the Standing Committees, Zone Representatives, the clubs for completing the COVID-19 Impact survey and Football West’s Game Development Committee in supporting the development of a framework for recommencement.
There are still challenges ahead, for the clubs and associations and for Football West. An ongoing issue for some clubs is gaining access to their home ground and Football West continues to work with local governments to resolve this matter. Football West is also working with FFA, Federal, State and Local Governments with regards to other measures that can reduce the burden on football community through the competition season.
We also appreciate the format of our competitions will look differently this year, including a moratorium on promotion and relegation across the board and no cup competitions.
But the overwhelming message from the football community is clear – if we can play, we will play.
That has been evident in the buzz on the training grounds and in the feedback we have received on social media. The question more than any other has been ‘when is the season going to start?’
Which is why it is great that we can finally provide an answer. Sunday, 21 June. Football’s coming back.
