Football West will be holding trials for two State Boys teams during the upcoming school holiday.
The trials are for boys born 2006 (U14) and 2005 (U15) who are prospective State Team players with a pathway to Junior National Teams.
While there will be no National Youth Championships this year due to COVID-19, Football West is keen to recognise the elite players in each age bracket.
Football West is also in negotiations about the two teams playing representative matches in WA.

Football Federation Australia Joeys Head Coach Trevor Morgan said the trials offered great opportunities for talented youngsters in WA.
“The proposed Football West Talent ID tournament builds on the Elite Match concept, providing young players with more regular high level games,” he said.
“These activities are designed to challenge players, best against best, as well serve as Talent Identification opportunities. Of the 2019 Joeys squad at the FIFA U17 WC in Brazil, 19 players were identified at club level and their talent confirmed in Elite Matches.
“The standard of these matches are high, with video and GPS data analysed by National Team staff.”
Morgan added: “Outstanding boys in the 2005 age group can aspire to make the current Joeys squad, which is trying to qualify for FIFA U17 World Cup in Peru next year.
“The 2006 boys are the target age for the next Youth World Cup cycle and are due to have their first taste of international competition in July next year.
“The timing of this event, especially with the setback related to COVID-19 interruption of the 2020 season, could work out to be a great advantage for Football West players, so I’m sure they will be giving everything in club competition to be in the form required to be selected.”
Trials will be held at Gibbney Reserve, Maylands.
The first trial will be on Monday, 13 July – the U14s will be between 9.30-11am, while the U15s will be from 11.15am to 12.45pm.
There will be a further assessment on Wednesday, 15 July. The final trial is on Friday, 17 July.
